MonE8

MonE8, the series title, refers not only to the great Impressionist Claude Monet, but also to the theoretical physics of Antony Lisi, whose work on E8 geometries offers an alternative explanation for a grander Unified Field Theory. Much akin to Monet's struggle to interpret his lily ponds with canvas and paint, so too is the difficulty of abstractly interpreting the fundaments of our physical reality. That which seems to be complete, symmetrical, and resolved, immediately evolves into new perceptions. Lily pads are larger than life in the hands of Monet, and the smallest of particles which make up our existence are made tangible, in the minds of a few physicists. My work plays upon these scales and realities by expanding the representations of only a few brush strokes in Monet's water lilies to become a new representational meaning. And so the very small, becomes large. Click on the numbered menu below to see each group of six, or click on an image to see a larger view.
